About the Organization:
Rural Women’s Front (RWF) was established as a no-for profit, non partisan NGO in 1988 by a group of concerned women and men who are dedicated to empowerment of rural and impoverished women in Sri Lanka. The RWF with registered in the Social Service Department Registered as an NGO under the Department of Social Services Regd. No: 0269.

Area of Work (Programme):
Since 1988 RWF has carried out large amount of rural and semi-urban programmes to build social, economic and political capacities of rural women to empower them. The programmes were tailor made to suit the needs of the identified women groups and the major programmes were categorized under the following themes:-

• Protecting the rights of the migrant workers, especially women
• Women’s leadership building and fostering organizational capacity
• Protection of children’s Rights
• Income generating programmes for rural women and organic farming
• Action to eliminate violence against women and children
• Environmental protection programmes

These programmes are currently being implemented in six (06) districts of Sri Lanka:-
• Galle
• Gampaha
• Kurunegala
• Badulla
• Kegalle
• Nuwara Eliya
